 How
does Check Conversion / Guarantee work?
- The customer
writes a preprinted personal check to purchase items.
- The check is
run through the RDM 6000i check imaging device which reads the encoded
information (MICR line) at the bottom of the check.
- Next you will
key in the dollar amount of the sale.
- The attached
Hypercom T7Plus terminal will dial out and in a few seconds come back with
either an approval or decline response. If declined the printer will
provide a receipt to the customer explaining that the check was declined
along with a toll-free number for them to call.
- The RDM
6000i will automatically frank “For ACH Deposit” on the back of the
check.
- You will then
hand the check back to the customer for him to keep.
- At close of
business, the merchant transmits all transactions in a batch for
settlement.
- Nova informs
both the customer’s and merchant’s banks of the transaction and the
funds are electronically transmitted to the merchant’s business checking
account in 48 business hours, just like any credit card sales.
- The
transaction appears on the customer’s bank statement, your merchant
business checking account statement, and a separate monthly statement
mailed to you each month by Nova.

is RDM's proprietary Progressive MICR Method. The Progressive MICR
Method is an RDM innovation that allows our imagers to scan the MICR line and
capture the image in a single pass with unsurpassed accuracy. The
'single pass' capability of the EC6000i has enabled it to read and process the
MICR line in under two seconds while performing substitute prevention and
reject repair.
